Honestly, the rooms at The Oberoi Amarvilas are pure perfection when combining luxury with breathtaking views. Every room and suite is designed to highlight the Taj Mahal, giving you a front-row seat to one of the world’s most iconic wonders 24/7. Sunset with a view of the Taj FROM YOUR BALCONY?!? Iconic. The décor is a mix of Mughal-inspired elegance and modern sophistication with intricate marble details, plush fabrics and warm earthy tones that make you feel like royalty.

If you’re looking for something more budget-friendly but still extraordinary, the Premier Rooms offer gorgeous views of the lush gardens and partial glimpses of the Taj. But if you’re ready to go all out, the Premier Taj View Rooms or the Kohinoor Suite are absolutely worth the splurge. The Premier Taj View Room is definitely the best deal because it has it’s own balcony. Picture waking up to the Taj glowing in the morning light right from your bed—it’s surreal. The suites also come with separate living areas, deep soaking tubs and balconies that make you feel like you’re in your own private paradise.

When I stayed there, I booked a Premier Taj View Room, and honestly, nothing beats sipping your morning coffee while gazing at the Taj Mahal from your window. The bed was insanely comfortable and the bathroom was a total dream with its marble finishings and a rain shower that felt straight out of a spa. What stood out was the attention to detail—from the nightly turndown service with fresh flowers to the pillow menu that guaranteed the perfect night’s sleep-which you’ll need to wake up fresh and get to the Taj first thing in the morning!.

If you’re planning your stay and have wiggle room in the budget, definitely opt for a the Premier Room—it’s worth every single penny. There’s something magical about having the world’s most romantic monument as your constant backdrop.

When it comes to dining at The Oberoi Amarvilas, the experience is nothing short of spectacular. The two main dining options, Bellevue and Esphahan, offer a culinary journey that caters to every palate.

At Bellevue, you can indulge in an all-day dining experience with a menu that spans international cuisines and Indian specialties. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty Italian pasta, a light salad, or an authentic North Indian curry, this restaurant has it all. I personally loved their butter chicken—it’s rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. And if you’re there for breakfast, don’t miss their fresh croissants paired with masala chai. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and sophistication to kick-start your day.

For a more intimate and traditional Indian dining experience, Esphahan is where it’s at. This was by far my favorite experience of the hotel!! This candlelit restaurant is all about celebrating the bold, authentic flavors of Mughal and Awadhi cuisine. The slow-cooked dal Esphahan and the Galouti kebabs were an absolute highlight—each bite felt like a tribute to India’s rich culinary heritage. Dining here feels extra special, as it’s limited to two seatings per evening, creating a cozy, exclusive vibe. The traditional flute player was amazing and it really felt maginal. Highly recommend if you’re nonvegetarian as this had some of the best tandoori of my life!

If you’re in the mood for drinks, the Bar at Amarvilas is the perfect spot to unwind. They serve a great mix of classic and signature cocktails, and their wine selection is impressive too. I recommend trying one of their gin-based cocktails, infused with local spices for a refreshing twist.

And let’s talk about their private dining experiences—pure magic! Picture this: a candlelit dinner on your private terrace, with the Taj Mahal glowing softly in the moonlight. It’s hands-down one of the most romantic settings I’ve ever experienced, and the service is so attentive it feels like you have the entire team catering to your evening. Whether you’re indulging in a casual meal at Bellevue, a regal dinner at Esphahan, or a bespoke private dining experience, the culinary magic at The Oberoi Amarvilas is something you’ll be raving about long after your trip.

Yes there are lots of options on places to stay to see the Taj Mahal –  but this isn’t just a luxury hotel stop in between sights-It’s a front-row seat to one of the world’s most iconic wonders. Waking up to an uninterrupted view of the Taj Mahal from your room is an experience you’ll remember forever ever. While there are other great places to stay in Agra, none match the exclusivity, elegance and sheer magic of Amarvilas.

From the jaw-dropping architecture and intricate details to the impeccable service, every moment feels like it’s been curated to perfection. And for couples, it doesn’t get more romantic than this. Imagine strolling through lush gardens, indulging in a private candlelit dinner with the Taj as your backdrop or enjoying a quiet sunrise together from your balcony.The pool is an absolute experience in the Agra heat. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed an afternoon dip more in my life.
