98 acres is a gorgeous property. It is a resort and spa that’s very woodsy and cabin inspired. They also have a day club close by that is inspired by balinese architecture. Every single view is unspoiled and so aesthetic. It’s surrounded by giant rolling hills and lush green tea estates. The Ella swing is also located here! Ravana Pool Club is a must stop if you’re in Ella. It attracts a really fun young crowd that loves to party by the pool or you can just chill and vibe in the hot tub and soak in the stunning views.
Booking, Arrival and Check-In Process
Securing a dream escape at 98 Acres Resort in Ella, Sri Lanka was so effortless and one of the easiest parts to plan during my Sri Lanka visit. I booked the hotel room directly through their website. On our arrival, the attentive staff warmly welcomed us with refreshing lychee beverages and a quick check-in. After checking our IDs and handing over the room keys, they took us down to the villas in a golf cart. The tranquility of the resort hits right away and I was off on my journey of relaxation and rejuvenation.

First off if you’re flying in, the closest airport is in Colombo, and then you can hop on a train or a bus to Ella. The train ride is especially scenic, winding through lush tea plantations and stunning landscapes. For those already in Sri Lanka, transportation to Ella is pretty straightforward: take a local bus, which is budget-friendly, or grab a taxi for a more comfortable ride. Once you arrive in Ella, getting to 98 Acres Resort is just a short tuk-tuk ride away.

From Colombo Airport (CMB)
- Train: Take a train from Colombo Fort station to Ella. The train ride is scenic, passing through tea plantations. Trains run daily.
- Taxi: Take a taxi directly from the airport to 98 Acres Resort in Ella. This is the most convenient option if you have a lot of luggage or are short on time. 98 Acres can also assist with booking a taxi ahead of your stay!
- Bus: Take a bus from Colombo to Ella. There are two options:
- Take a local bus from the main bus station near Colombo Fort to Ella. This is cheaper but takes longer.
- Take a highway bus from Maharagama bus station in south Colombo to Ella. These are air-conditioned and faster

From sunrise to sunset, the stunning views in Sri Lanka that I experienced here are simply unforgettable. The view from my balcony is seared into my memory. The natural beauty of Ella remains untouched and pristine, thanks to the resort’s commitment to sustainable development.
but why’d my shower have such a good view too?!? This resort’s one of the most scenic points in Ella because it looks at Little Adam’s Peak and the valley before Ella rock. There are NO bad angles out here of any of their villas.

Dining and Bar Service
Cafe and Bar 98 was closed for renovations when we were there, but the silver lining was free access to Ravana Pool Club. No cover charge, just pure bliss. The pool was amazing. They even have golf carts to shuttle you there and back. It’s super close, like a five-minute ride. Their food and drink menu is huge! They’ve got everything from fancy cocktails to local grub. We were planning to go there anyway, so getting in for free was a total win. Plus, they served breakfast there too, which was a nice surprise.
The pool itself is insane. It’s the perfect place to chill, soak up the sun, and pretend you’re lost in a luxurious part of a jungle. We spent hours there vibing, listening to music, and enjoying the scenery and swimming around. It’s definitely a must-visit if you’re in Ella.
