This incredible eco-friendly homestay with TWO pools is nestled right in the heart of Ella’s stunning rolling hills. It looked like a charming little hut but comes with all the modern amenities like a coffee bar and mini. It’s wild how the right accommodation can totally elevate your trip, and I’m pumped to spill the deets about my stay at this hidden gem.

The eco-friendly jungle hut itself was an absolute dream come true. Listed as eco-chalet with a private plunge infinity pool, offering uninterrupted mountain views of the surrounding nature. You can actually see the train passing by from your cabin if you just walk up the hill! It’s such a unique accommodation that makes you feel connected to the surroundings.

The food here was a highlight too! The cabin’s restaurant served authentic Sri Lankan food that was freshly made and beautifully presented on a banana leaf platter. It was easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Definitely had a home-cooked authenticity that finally hit my spice cravings. What I loved most about this stay was the peace and isolation. Best time to visit Ella, Sri Lanka

Seasonal Considerations for Ella Stays

Let me tell you about the best times to visit Ella and what to expect during different seasons. Ella’s got this awesome tropical climate, with temps ranging from 59°F to 86°F year-round. It’s usually mild and not too humid- perfect for chilling out.

Best Time to Visit

If you’re looking for the prime time to hit up Ella, aim for December to April. That’s when it’s drier and sunnier, making it perfect for all those outdoor adventures. Plus, you might catch the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year celebrations in April – it’s such a cultural treat to participate in!

Monsoon Season Preparations

Heads up – July, October to December can get pretty wet. If you’re planning a stay during this time, make sure your Airbnb has good shelter from the rain and that the route heading up to Ella is not flooded. I love traveling during the monsoon because I’m a sucker for warm, rainy weather. Besides, rain in the jungle?! It’s a must experience!!

Festival Period Bookings

During festival times, Ella can get pretty crowded. I’d suggest booking your Airbnb well in advance, especially if you’re eyeing those cool tea cabins or treehouses. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the good spots!

Off-Season Advantages

Don’t write off traveling during the off-season completely though, because the crowds never really die down even in the monsoon or colder seasons like May-September. It is a great time to snag some deals and still enjoy a bit of a lighter crowd. Just pack a light sweater for those cool evenings, and you’re all set for an awesome stay!

    • Excellent Amenities: Reliable Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchen, and thoughtful extras shampoo, conditioner, bath gel.
    • Great Host: Friendly and helpful, providing excellent recommendations and assistance.

    Cons

    • No Kitchen: While there are great restaurants nearby in town and their own onsite restaurant is amazing-just be aware that there’s no kitchen at the airbnb. Not a big deal in my opinion since there are so many yummy options just a message away.
    • Remote/not ADA friendly: Although it’s close to attractions, the Airbnb is a bit off the beaten path, which might not be ideal for those without their own transport. You also have to climb stairs and go up a hill which is not wheelchair or handicap friendly and might be difficulty for elders with unstable knees.
