Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay
A luxury hotel not in a tropical country? So this was an Abhishek pick. Why? The answer is tennis. He wanted to play tennis by the ocean.
See I’m not the only boujee one. He gets big boujee. Love that for him…and me 😏 I’m a sucker for working with a favorable exchange rate but ya know sometimes you let your man just take the lead. Especially when he leads you to a good view.
TBH Ritz Carlton destinations don’t make it to my aesthetic mood boards often. Yes, they’re incredibly luxe and elegant but it doesn’t bring the most current vibes to mind. They seem a bit dated? My expectations weren’t high when we were checking in…so I’m surprised to admit I was w r o n g. We were greeted shortly before the hotel by a gate check who verified you’re a guest and then we drove up to the valet drop off where they immediately help you with your bags. Parking costs $52 at their onsite parking structure. Not sure, if there’s a way around that and I was so over driving so I didn’t explore options. The drive up isn’t even that curvy, I just get carsick kinda easy.

The check-in desk offered us an upgrade to a fire pit room and I was stoked. I love me an upgrade lol They said it’d take a few min and handed us wine to take a walk outside to their Ocean Terrace while they finished getting the room ready. Great start, I was starting to get why the Ritz’s branding was still iconic. It’s the service – their staff are so sweet, like the sweetest people I’ve met in California for the past 2 years. It reminds me of the service standard in Asian countries where they make sure you feel heavily catered to. Also, the location of this hotel is definitely a Ritz standard. I honestly think it’s has the best location in the entire Bay Area. You’re right on the edge of the cliff so you get a sweeping, panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

This was an amazing staycation in the Bay Area. The Ritz’s view makes it an easy remote work situation, especially coupled with the hotel’s solid wifi connectivity. The room had plenty of space and the bathroom had gorgeous marble detailing. The ocean sounds so soothing and the fire pit on your balcony offers a great way to keep warm while you listen late into the night.
